    Law enforcement professionals experience many traumatic events throughout their career. It is estimated that during an officer's career, he or she will respond to 188 traumatic events. This session discusses what options and resources are available to officers through the TAC Risk Management Pool. By recognizing when an officer may be in stress or struggling with PTSD, we can work together to protect those who protect us.

The goals for this session are to be able to provide a retiree with basic understanding of the CountyChoice Silver program and the benefits of having a supplemental medical and prescription plans.     Law enforcement professionals often encounter traumatic events requiring split-second decisions. Use of force to protect lives followed by the immediate need to provide medical assistance can lead to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or other mental stress to officers, victims, and bystanders. This session uses a use-of-force simulator to demonstrate split-second decisions law enforcement professionals face. Attendees will also gain insights into law enforcement personnel’s duty to render aid and the life-saving techniques employed. By gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by law enforcement during critical incidents, we can work together to provide crucial resources that aim to reduce or eliminate instances of mental health issues like PTSD.
