Public Information Requests
Texas law gives the public the right to access government records, and government officials may not ask why you want them. All government information is presumed to be available to the public. Certain exceptions may apply to the disclosure of the information. Governmental bodies shall promptly release requested information that is not confidential by law or information for which an exception to disclosure has been sought.
A written Public Information Request should be sent in one of the following manners for processing:
U.S. Mail
Office of the General Counsel
ATTN: Public Information Officer
Texas Association of Counties
1210 San Antonio Street
Austin, Texas 78701
Requests can be sent using this PIA Request form. Requests sent to any other email at the Texas Association of Counties will not constitute an official records request. All staff have been instructed to respond to requests and direct people to the proper email addresses.
