Nothing embodies Western heritage better than the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District. From the original brick walkways to the wooden corrals, every inch of the Stockyards tells the true history of Texas’ famous livestock industry. Plan to visit the Stockyards, which are only a 10-minute drive away.

    Writs of possession are issued as part of eviction cases and must be executed by law
    enforcement. But what is a constable’s responsibility during execution of these writs?
    This course will teach constables about writs of possession, how to execute them, and
    how to provide proof to the court that they have been executed.

    During the execution of writs, constables are frequently the first to hear that a
    judgment creditor is claiming property is exempt. Then judges may receive a claim
    and hold a protected property hearing. This course will cover the newly created rules
    related to exempt property and track this procedure from start to finish.

    If a constable levies on property, it then must be sold at public auction. How does a public auction work? What does the constable need to do before and after the sale? This course will go through the entire process of a constable sale using a mock execution, focusing on best practices for conducting them.

    The Specialty Court Grant Program provides funding assistance for specialty court programs for additional personnel, equipment, supplies, professional counseling and/ or substance abuse treatment, as well as the continuation of a training and technical assistance resource center to support the specialty court programs. This session will provide an overview of the Specialty Courts Grant Program and program requirements, and then go into greater detail about the application process for applying for grant programs within the Public Safety Office.
