    "We just got an application for a new festival coming to town. It sounds like a fun event, but the application is a mess. What are the reasons I can reject it?"

    Under what circumstances may the county judge reject a mass gathering permit?

    Under Health & Safety Code §751.007(b), the county judge may deny a mass gathering permit for a variety of reasons, including if:

    • The application is inadequate or contains false information;
    • The promoter’s financial backing is insufficient;
    • Location is inadequate;
    • Preparations to limit attendance is inadequate;
    • The promoter cannot ensure minimum standards of sanitation and health;
    • Adequate arrangements for traffic control have not been provided;
    • And more, which can be found in our publication, Mass Gatherings and Outdoor Music Festivals.
