    Pickup truck "My deputies would prefer to drive their own trucks to perform certain duties. As the Constable, can I allow them to do that? Seems like a major liability."

    Can a sheriff, constable, or deputy use their personal vehicle for county business or law enforcement duties?

    It depends. Local Government Code §170.001 provides that a commissioners court may adopt rules to prohibit or regulate the use of privately owned motor vehicles for county business or law enforcement duties.
