    What authority does the county have over the treatment of animals?

    Chapter 821 of the Health and Safety Code governs the treatment of all living nonhuman creatures and authorizes certain county officials to seize an animal that is being "cruelly treated" while following certain guidelines. For more information, see our Animal Control handbook.
