    PROTECT Discretionary Grant Program

    The Promoting Resilient Operations for Transformative, Efficient, and Cost-saving Transportation (PROTECT) program offers $576 million in FY24 and FY25 and $300 million in FY26, with application deadlines of February 24, 2025, for FY24 and FY25 funds, and February 24, 2026, for FY26. Eligible applicants include states, MPOs, local governments, special purpose districts, port authorities, tribal governments, or consortia of these entities. The program funds projects such as resilience planning, improving the durability of transportation assets against extreme weather, enhancing evacuation routes, and strengthening at-risk coastal infrastructure.
