Low-Carbon Transportation Materials Grants Program
The U.S. Department of Transportation has announced $800 million in funding through the Low Carbon Transportation Materials (LCTM) Program as part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s climate initiatives under the Investing in America agenda. Administered by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the LCTM program aims to support the use of low-carbon materials, such as steel, concrete, glass, and asphalt, in transportation projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. While initially providing $1.2 billion to state transportation departments in March 2024, this round opens funding to cities, tribal governments, metropolitan planning organizations, and other agencies. The program is a key part of President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, emphasizing sustainable transportation practices.
