	"Residents in the county are asking if they'll be allowed to shoot off more fireworks next month. I completely forgot that another holiday was coming up! What does the commissioners court need to do to restrict or allow the sale of fireworks?"

When may fireworks be sold, and what authority does the commissioners court have to regulate them?

The State of Texas authorizes the sale of fireworks during seven periods annually. During the Fourth of July and December holiday fireworks periods, fireworks sales are permitted absent a finding by the commissioners court that drought conditions exist. For the Texas Independence Day, San Jacinto Day, Cinco de Mayo (only counties not more than 100 miles from the Texas-Mexico border), Memorial Day, and Diwali fireworks periods, the commissioners court has discretion as to whether or not sales will be allowed.
