    Woman in driver seat of a car "I've noticed a few of our county employees and officials driving 
    their personal vehicles while on county business. Shouldn't they be 
    using county owned vehicles while on county business in case 
    something were to happen?

    Can the commissioners court regulate the use of personal vehicles while on county business?

    Yes, under Local Government Code §170.001, the commissioners court may adopt rules prohibiting or regulating the use of privately owned vehicles for the performance of county business or law enforcement duties by the sheriff, constable or a deputy. The commissioners court may not adopt rules for the private use of a privately owned vehicle.
