Pen on top of a contract paper "Our county needs to engage with outside counsel on a specific matter. A local lawyer sent over an agreement that included contingent fees. Can the county sign off on this type of agreement?"

Can a county enter a contingent fee contract for legal services?

A county subject to Government Code §2254.002 may not enter into a contingent fee contract for certain legal services without first submitting the contract to the Office of the Attorney General for review and approval. For more information on how to request a review and where to submit materials visit this page on the Attorney General's website.
