Headless person sitting at a computer "One of our commissioners has missed several of our commissioners court meetings throughout his term. At first he'd have real excuses, but now it seems like he just doesn't care to show up. He'd rather be out working with his road crew. It just doesn't seem fair to the rest of the court members."

Does a commissioner automatically resign if the commissioner misses a certain number of meetings?

No. There is no provision for automatic resignation of county commissioners for missing meetings of the court. There are provisions of this sort specifically applicable to certain types of municipalities, but the legislature has not extended a similar requirement to county commissioners. For more information, see our publication Commissioners Court Meetings Procedure and Decorum.
