Deadline Approaching for Road Repair Program
The 86th Texas Legislature authorized the County Transportation Infrastructure Fund (CTIF) grant program. The CTIF provides funding for county road repairs, with a distribution formula to address damage related to oil and gas production. The funding is split into an 80% state contribution and a 20% county match.
Under the current appropriation, 216 counties have had access to $250 million in funding. All CTIF funds must be spent by June 24, five years from the grant award date.
The latest comprehensive report listing all counties is available here. This report shows that about $21.8 million of the $250 million awarded remains unspent. To ensure counties are reimbursed for eligible work, the Texas Department of Transportation recommends that counties complete their projects, pay vendors and submit reimbursement requests by April 24.
