Listen to Texas County Voice, TAC's Award-Winning Podcast
The Texas Association of Counties' podcast, Texas County Voice, spotlights the county officials who make a difference in their communities and explores the issues that shape county government. In the latest episode, Taylor County Commissioner Chuck Statler shares the challenges and accomplishments of his 25 years in office, and how he has maintained his passion for broadcasting. For more than 40 years, Statler has announced high school football, basketball and baseball games.
Other recent episodes include interviews with Comal County Commissioner Jen Crownover, Jefferson County Constable Chris Bates and Parmer County Commissioner Kirk Frye. Texas County Voice also recently took listeners on a journey through the history and stories hidden in the remnants of Texas ghost towns. A few of these vanished towns were county seats back in the day.
Texas County Voice earned three awards of excellence this year from the National Association of County Information Officers. Notably, the podcast secured the best in category award for an episode centered on the topic of mental health and county jails.
