TAC Risk Management Pool Turns 50
Accomplishments and service to members since 1974
The Texas Association of Counties' Risk Management Pool (TAC RMP) turns 50 in 2024, marking an achievement made possible by its members' dedication to safety and their constituents.
TAC RMP formed in 1974 as the TAC Workers' Compensation Self-Insurance Fund after state law required counties and other governmental entities to provide workers' compensation coverage. Forty-nine counties pooled to manage the high cost of the mandate at the time.
Today, TAC RMP has flourished to provide more than half a dozen types of coverage, offering unparalleled services to meet the changing needs of its 400-plus members.
"From workplace accidents and personnel issues to historic natural disasters and manmade threats to property and networks, the Pool has been an essential resource for members," said TAC Risk Management Services Director Michael Shannon. "To see the Pool grow to what it is today is a testament to its strength for years to come."
