Executive Director's Report
I can hardly believe we are more than halfway through 2023. It has been a busy year so far, and and I see no signs of it slowing down.
I encourage everyone to stay engaged and to take advantage of the many opportunities available to you through TAC.
I am excited to share that TAC's 2023 County Technology Conference, which took place May 16-19 in Round Rock, was a success. More than 250 people participated either in person or virtually. The inaugural conference featured a robust agenda and offered two learning tracks for both technical and nontechnical staff members and officials. Workshop topics ranged from records management and data storage to cybersecurity, budgeting for IT projects and beyond. Thank you to everyone who attended this year's event. We are already looking forward to next year's conference, scheduled for May 21-24 in Georgetown.
The regular session of the 88th Texas Legislature concluded May 29. Since then, TAC's Legislative Services team has been working hard to sum up the action for our annual Legislative Analysis Report while also preparing for TAC's 2023 Legislative Conference. I would like to thank every member of this team for their dedication and hard work. I would also like to thank all of you for your continuous involvement and representation of Texas counties throughout the legislative session this year. Because of your efforts, we had a strong voice at the Capitol.
Speaking of TAC's Legislative Conference, this year's event is right around the corner. Taking place Aug. 30 through Sept. 1 in Austin in Travis County, the conference offers both in-person and virtual options to attend. This is a can't-miss opportunity to become more involved in the Texas legislative process and to learn more about important policy issues and how they affect county government and local taxpayers. As a reminder, we have expanded our LegalEase Continuing Education course library. TAC Legal Services has five on-demand training courses for counties.
