SB 22 Rules Available for Review and Comment
The 88th Legislature appropriated $330.8 million in House Bill 1, the 2024-25 state budget, to provide financial assistance to counties in rural areas to "support the state purpose of ensuring professional law enforcement throughout the state" [Senate Bill 22 by Sen. Drew Springer (R-Muenster), 88th Legislature]. This grant program provides financial assistance to sheriffs, constables and prosecutors for counties with a population of 300,000 or less.
The Comptroller proposed rules for SB 22 for comment on Oct. 13. The rules are available and searchable on the Secretary of State's website and can be accessed using the links in the following table. The deadline for comments is Nov. 12. Submit comments here.
