Q & A from Virginia
A webinar featuring the Arlington County Detention Center (Arlington, VA) was held May 22, 2012. The question and answer section touched on a few topics that Texas counties have also questioned, including: cross gender supervision, increased civil liability for counties that do not adopt PREA standards, housing certified juveniles age 17 and under in protective custody and away from general population (new Texas law permits age 17 to be housed with adults), providing the same training for parole and corrections staff and disciplining inmates for false reports against staff or other inmates.

The May 22 webinar titled PREA Readiness – Arlington County Detention Center can be viewed online. Relevant questions begin at the 56-minute mark.
